VAVOOMB™ enables people to access voice, video, social media and messaging services across both the Internet and mobile data networks.
It extends the reach of a subscriber’s key identity – their mobile phone number – to all of their devices, including the desktop or tablet PC.
Availability of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) has been cited as one of the most significant factors in the decline of the traditional telecoms industry. The availability of smart-phones with ‘Over-the-top’ (OTT) Apps and fast and fixed and mobile broadband has driven consumers to find new and cheaper ways of communicating via cheap VoIP services accessed from both PCs and smart-phone apps. Every call or message sent via VoIP is revenue lost for the operator.
VAVOOMB has been designed specifically to help mobile operators to counter this threat by leveraging the VoIP service concept to deliver an integrated service by utilizing their strongest assets and simultaneously converging traditional mobile VAS in a unified mobile broadband experience.
VAVOOMB is a carrier-class platform designed to provide access to core voice, messaging and other value-added services to subscribers using wireless or fixed broadband access networks from any device and deliver a consistent user experience irrespective of how the service is accessed.
VAVOOMB combines the world of IP networks with that of circuit switched networks and combines the flexibility of the former with the superior sound quality of the latter. It overcomes the quality and connectivity drawbacks of VoIP which in turn gives people the freedom to make and receive VoIP calls as and when it suits them.
VAVOOMB Architecture
VAVOOMB can allow a subscriber to maintain a home country presence while roaming or living abroad, or allow operators to offer low cost international calling rates for international calls made via the VAVOOMB service.
A VAVOOMB user can use their mobile service in the most convenient way needed. For example a user can start a conversation by making a VoIP call from their PC and during the call, move the call to a circuit switched call on their mobile handset without interruption.
Subscribers can use their PC/Tablet devices as well as their handset whilst operators can offer VoIP in conjunction with their circuit switched networks – leveraging the benefits of both.
VAVOOMB adds value to the VoIP proposition, because the subscriber maintains a single identity – their own mobile phone number – whether they are communicating using their mobile phone, tablet, or PC, rather than have a multitude of user IDs and have to log in to each OTT service. Likewise, VAVOOMB allows the subscriber to maintain just one address list presented on every device, rather than separate lists for each service they subscribe to elsewhere.
For the operator, VAVOOMB is a viral service which helps keep subscribers on their network by offering a differentiated service, which in turn increases revenues, ARPU and customer loyalty.
VAVOOMB counters the threat from OTT providers by allowing the operator to offer their subscribers a compelling service with many of the benefits of VoIP, but adding additional compelling benefits including enhanced call quality, multiple devices ringing and call transfer all from one user account with a single balance. The service can also easily be extended to integrate with the other mobile operator VAS services such as SMS, MMS, Broadcast SMS and Visual Voice Mail in order to deliver a truly integrated mobile service, far in advance of simple VoIP services.
