SMSC CDMA & GSM wireless testing successfully completed proving Nortel interoperability

[ Monday, 13th February 2006 ]

Dublin, 6th February 2006 – Jinny Software, a leading supplier of messaging infrastructure to mobile network operators, today announces that its SMSC product has achieved interoperability approval from Nortel Networks.

Interoperability approval was achieved using CDMA & GSM infrastructure equipment at Nortel Networks’ Wireless Interoperability Lab in Richardson, Texas. The Jinny SMSC can now operate with any network running Nortel infrastructure, but it also highlights the SMSC’s multi-technology, GSM/CDMA capabilities.

Nortel focuses on the most commercially viable technologies because each has unique advantages and complements its current wireless portfolio. The company was the industry’s first supplier with wireless networks operating in all advanced radio technologies (GSM/GPRS/EDGE, CDMA2000 1X and 1xEV-DO, UMTS and WLAN), and is an end-to-end provider of next-generation wireless solutions. Nortel has designed, installed and launched more than 300 wireless networks in over 70 countries across the globe for such major customers as: AT&T Wireless Services, Verizon Wireless, Sprint PCS, O2, Orange, T-Mobile and Vodafone.

George Yazbek, Strategic Marketing Director, Jinny Software, said, “Successful interoperability between Nortel Networks’ CDMA and GSM infrastructure and the Jinny SMSC is a significant achievement in our extensive interoperability testing programme. This latest success highlights the suitability of Jinny’s SMSC product for operation with CDMA and GSM-based networks. The approval of Jinny products to work with Nortel-supplied networks will have a major impact on our growth over the coming years.”

Jinny Software’s highly scalable, modular architecture SMSC is the essential core of the SMS environment. It delivers a feature-rich range of messaging services that can be easily customised and integrated with operators’ existing services. Jinny’s messaging solutions are compliant with all open standards defining the future architecture of IMS. They offer transition from standard 64 kbps, low-speed links to SIGTRAN protocols, enabling SS7 to be deployed over IP.

“The modular architecture of our solution and proven interoperability, offer a perfect option for multi-country, multi-technology mobile operators facing the challenge of running different cellular network technologies, simultaneously, whether GSM, CDMA, or TDMA,” Yazbek concluded.
