Ringback tone solution drives new revenues for Jordan’s Fastlink
3GSM World Congress, Barcelona, 13th February 2006, – Jinny Software, a leading global supplier of messaging infrastructure to mobile network operators, today announces a major deployment of its Ringback Tone Server with Fastlink, the first mobile operator in Jordan and one of MTC group companies, the leading mobile operator in the Middle East & Africa.
The key goal of deploying Jinny’s solution was to increase the company ability to provide millions of consumers with a wide variety of music and open up a new revenue stream to complement existing voice revenues.
The Jinny Ringback Tone Server provided all the necessary elements for Fastlink to offer this service immediately upon implementation and, since it first went live in November 2005, the solution has proven hugely successful. Despite minimal advertising the operator has experienced phenomenal success with a huge number of users having registered for the service in its first week of availability. Fastlink is planning to expand this service very quickly in order to meet the needs of its two million subscribers.
Mobile ringtones have been a significant revenue earner for mobile network operators for several years and market take-up is extremely positive. The Ringback Tone Server extends this further and is the latest technology for self-expression. The Jinny Ringback Tone Server allows mobile users to reflect their personality by setting a preferred ringback tone for callers to hear before the call is answered. It replaces the monotone, droning sound, heard by those trying to call, with a popular ringtone, a sound clip or a self-recorded message, allowing subscribers to express themselves in a very individual way.
From a billing perspective, the solution is fully configurable to meet the requirements of any business model chosen by the operator. Ringback tones from different content providers are on offer to Fastlink subscribers and the service can be configured via either, an IVR, web or SMS interface. Content is available in both Arabic and English and customers can view which ringback tones are available and allocate tones to different caller groups.
Ziad Al-Masri, Mobile Data Services Manager at Fastlink, commented, “The business model behind the service is flexible and has allowed Fastlink to set the price according to market requirements, work with content providers on a revenue-share basis and set up as many models as we have wanted.”
Chief Commercial Officer at Jinny Software, Declan O’Mahony, added, “Fastlink is a market leader for value added services in the Middle East region and offers its subscribers a portfolio of highly innovative messaging-based services. Our two companies have a long-standing relationship and Fastlink already uses the rest of our product set. We are very pleased that the ringback tone solution has proven to be such an instant success.”
Jinny launched its Ringback Tone Server at the 3GSM World Congress 2005.

More about Jinny’s Ringback Tone Server
The Ringback Tone Server allows mobile users to reflect their personality by setting a preferred ring back tone for callers to hear before the call is answered. It replaces the monotone, droning sound heard by those trying to call, with a popular ring tone, a sound clip or a self-recorded message, allowing subscribers to express themselves in a very individual way. They can even associate a specific ring back tone to certain callers in their phone book. The multi-access subscription system based on WEB, WAP, IVR and SMS makes the service easy to activate. Users can choose from a database containing hundreds of songs provided by content partners. After purchase, they can store the tones for immediate or future use.
The product builds on open standards in line with the Jinny philosophy of providing non-proprietary platforms. The solution is designed to full carrier-grade and is fully scalable. This Ringback Tone Server complements Jinny’s already comprehensive range of messaging platforms making the company a virtual one-stop shop for all messaging requirements.
