New Opportunities For Jinny As It Expands Its Market Share Across Emea
[ Wednesday, 22nd September 2004 ]
DUBLIN, IRELAND - 22 September 2004 - Leading provider of messaging solutions for the wireless communications industry, Jinny Software, has made significant strides during Q3 2004, increasing its overall market share across EMEA in the provision and upgrade of its messaging products for mobile operators. The company is now taking a strategic lead in the delivery of messaging and Value Added Services (VAS) solutions suited to wireless operators in Central and Eastern Europe (CEE).
Leading provider of messaging solutions for the wireless communications industry, Jinny Software, has made significant strides during Q3 2004. During Q3, four major EMEA mobile operators became new Jinny customers using the Jinny SMSC, with a further two leading operators adopting the Jinny MMSC to handle growing messaging demands across their networks.
In addition, several existing operator clients have placed orders for upgrades to their existing Jinny solution implementations, illustrating the scalability, robustness and feature-rich solutions offered by the company in the face of rapidly evolving wireless VAS and messaging/data trends.
One operator in sub-Saharan Africa has purchased a combined, all-in-one Jinny SMSC/MMSC along with additional operational modules, in an implementation where the operator required a compact, cost-effective, though highly scalable solution to meet all the messaging and VAS requirements of its current subscriber base. The solution will further be required to support major increases in traffic and VAS delivery demands in the future.
This 'all-in-one' implementation effectively signals the availability of Jinny's new VAS2GO product suite, which has been launched for the benefit of small to medium-sized network operators with the requirement to expand their existing messaging systems, in a cost-effective way.
Jinny's new sister product, the VAS2GO Plus, offers a similar all-in-one solution, although is more suited to networks where operators are experiencing enormous jumps in VAS data traffic, such as those of Central and Eastern Europe. In addition to core messaging nodes, it includes content management and routing technology, particularly suited to VAS data management.
Max Wilkie, CEO of Jinny Software, commented, "Our latest successes and new business strategy for Central and Eastern Europe, come at a time when several markets across this region are experiencing major increases in VAS and data service traffic. The VAS figures for the Russian market alone, predicted by iKS-Consulting* to reach US$1.5billion in 2005, are extremely exciting. Russia, however, is not the only market in the region where VAS and messaging/data services are on the increase.
"For these reasons, operators both large and small now have the requirement to introduce or improve their VAS handling capabilities. As a result, Jinny has ramped up its business activities in Central and Eastern Europe and introduced our new product bundles to suit everyone in the region," Wilkie concluded.

In the first half of 2004, VAS generated over US$360million in Russia, representing 11% of total Russian cellular revenues. Revenues from VAS are expected to increase in Russia by 140% in 2004 reaching US$950 million, equivalent to 12.5% of the total cellular service revenue in the country. The Russian VAS market is expected to exceed US$1.5 billion during 2005.
In the first half of 2004, the size of the Russian wireless content market reached US$87million and iKS-Consulting estimates that content revenues will exceed 200% in 2004, reaching US$300million, bringing content services' share of all VAS revenues to 30%.
Regional expansion of GPRS-based services in Russia has also led to strong growth in wireless Internet revenues. The share of mobile Internet services in the total VAS revenue stream grew from 3% in 2003 to 6% in the first half of 2004, with more than 800,000 Russian cellular subscribers now using GPRS - twice more than at the end of 2003.

Jinny Software is a leading provider of SMS and MMS platforms that deliver more messages per second and offer a higher return on investment for mobile network operators worldwide, than similar solutions currently available. The company offers platform solutions specifically tailored for VAS messaging applications and its product range, built to open standards, is designed with the clear intention to enable mobile network operators to increase their profits from messaging traffic.
While usage and resulting revenues derived from messaging traffic are constantly increasing, related operating costs for mobile operators are also rising. Jinny's comprehensive, though cost-effective messaging and VAS solutions, are designed to help reduce these costs.
Jinny Software operates internationally from its headquarters in Dublin, Ireland, and regional headquarters in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The company is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Rome-based Acotel Group, and its offices are complemented by representation through Acotel regional offices in Rome, Paris, New York, Boston and Rio de Janeiro.
The Acotel Group SpA is Europe's leading Wireless Application Service Provider (WASP) and provides personalised, wireless value-added services to millions of active, paying subscribers worldwide.
