20 February 2001: WAP Push and Enahanced Wireless Security integrated into Jinny WAP Gateway
Cannes, 20th February 2001: Jinny Software is today demonstrating the latest version of the Jinny WAP Gateway which introduces WAP Push and WTLS Class 3 security for the first time at 3GSM World Congress Cannes, France. The WAP Gateway in fully compliant with the WAP 1.2 standard as defined by the WAP Forum.
With the new WAP 1.2 standard introduced in July 2000, WAP devices can now have information pushed to them, based upon configurable events. Services such as breaking news, interest rates, e-mail or advertising can be sent to the device.
The Jinny WAP Gateway provides a fully secure wireless connection. By incorporating WAP 1.2, Jinny supports the deployment of wireless PKI, with both server and client authentication. Digital certificates are issued to the WAP server. Separate certificates are also issued to the handset and the server certificates are associated with an individual user (client). Jinny’s WAP Gateway fully supports WIM functionality. Jinny Software was the first company worldwide to incorporate Baltimore Technologies’ Wireless Transport Layer Security (WTLS) technology directly into its WAP stack, enabling mobile users to make secure transactions, conduct secure information sessions and to engage in secure mCommerce.
“This launch is very timely,” commented Jinny Software CEO and Chairman, Roy Zakka. “A year to this day Jinny was the first to launch and demonstrate secure WAP at this very show having partnered with Baltimore Technologies. It is fitting that that partnership once again allows us to be first to market with WTLS Class 3 security this year.”
The 3GSM World Congress is on from 20-23 February in the Palais des Festivals, Cannes, France. www.gsmworldcongress.com
