Arabian Gulf, 30 October 2000: Jinny Software, the Irish Mobile Internet solutions company, today secured a landmark contract with Bahrain Telecommunications Company (Batelco), to provide the infrastructure and applications that will make possible the delivery of Internet content and information services to Batelco's 190,000 GSM mobile subscribers. According to Andrew Hearn, Chief Executive of Batelco, Batelco has always been keen to create an environment in which value added services can be delivered to its customers. The solution allows Batelco's mobile users to set-up and access the portal using either SMS text messages, WAP or the fixed Internet - voice navigation will also be introduced as a complementary channel. "For our mobile customers this deal allows a host of new applications ranging from email, business and consumer information channels, through to direct access to Internet-based data," said Mr Hearn.
Today’s contract falls in line with our policy of offering a state-of-the-art network and meeting the future needs of our customers. The contract also reinforces the leading position of Batelco in the Middle East," he added.
The platform, although pre-installed with turnkey services and applications from Jinny Software, allows Batelco to extend its present offering by enabling the integration of future services as they are rolled out. "Winning this contract further proves Jinny's unrivalled offering of integrated, end-to-end mobile solutions.
