Acotel Group First Player To Market With Mms Information Services

Rome, 10 July 2002: Acotel launch MMS Info Service with one of Europe's largest operators
Acotel Group S.p.A, the leading provider of Mobile Value Added Services listed on the Milan Nuovo Mercato, is one of the first players worldwide to commercially launch Value Added Information Services based on MMS technology (Multimedia Mobile Services), with one of Europe’s largest operators.
More than 5,000 messages were sent through Acotel’s Multimedia Platform on day one of the launch; this represents an important step for MMS and the associated services which are currently available - your daily Horoscope complete with a personalized astrological picture. Cartoon Strips offering the user short stories on their mobile to enjoy anywhere and exchange with friends. The “Girls” service allows users everywhere to catch a glimpse of some of the most beautiful women in the World!!
Additional services will be commercially launched with the Italian operator TIM in Q3 of 2002. To date, only three different handsets are available to customers (2 Nokia and 1 Sony Ericsson) but an important software development has been requested to adapt MMS services to support different monitors, with various colours and animation functionalities.
The recent launch of MMS services confirms Acotel’s commitment and leadership in the development of services based on new technologies. This commitment is evidenced by the continuous investment in research and development financed in part by the revenue generated through services based on more established technologies.
Using its own technological platforms and through TIM in Italy, Acotel already provides a number of value added information services: ScripTIM by Acotel, using SMS technology; WapTIM by Acotel, VoiceTIM by Acotel; since January of this year the services are also accessible through WAP Push based on M-Services “Phase 1” technology as defined by the GSM Association; the current MMS represent “Phase 2” of M-Services.
