Acotel Enables “trees” To Launch Mobile Instant Messaging In The Netherlands

[ Thursday, 13th March 2003 ]
Dublin, 13 March 2003: Acotel’s instant messaging platform (Branded -Jinny Instant Messenger) will be used by Trees’ to roll out Mobile Instant Messaging in the Dutch market.

Initially the pilot will be limited to a fixed number of users so that usage patterns and traffic levels can be accurately measured. The “viral” effect of Jinny’s Instant Messenger (JIM) will ensure the user base expands naturally.

Mr. Jan Andries Mulder CEO of Trees’ stated: “The success of SMS within a wireless environment and Instant Messaging (IM) over the wired Internet is a testimony to the enduring desire for individuals and communities to communicate with each other. We are now at a stage where the facilitators of this communication - the mobile phone and the Internet, two of the fastest growing communications technologies of all time, are converging. Mobile instant messaging now offers an exciting solution that bridges these two key forms of communication. We have chosen Acotel’s Instant Messaging Platform (JIM) due to its feature rich client, mobile network interface and access to all public IM networks”.

Mr. Ciaran Carey, General Manager, Acotel Northern Europe, added: “We are looking forward to working with Trees’ to build a sizeable market for Mobile Instant Messaging in the Netherlands. With our joint customer centric approach and world beating system, both Trees’ and Acotel have the right qualities to ensure customer satisfaction when it comes to Mobile Instant Messaging. Trees’ have demonstrated their commitment to customer satisfaction and innovation, through their customer driven selection process.
